Today was like any normal day for the students of Angel Grove High. The halls were packed with teenagers who were trying to get to their homeroom while catching up with friends on what they did between after school and now. Teachers were standing outside their classroom doors in order to be there to break up fights and the buses outside were dropping off the last of the remaining students. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and so far there haven't been any monster attacks which gave some of the residents in Angel Grove hope that today will be like the days before Rita was released from the space dumpster. The students really didn't seem to worry about the possibility of a monster showing up since most of them were too preoccupied with the drama of being a teenager.
While today seemed to be like an ordinary school day, it wasn't for the student, Alexander Pendragon since today was his first day of school at Angel Grove High. You see after Alex's parents were killed in Reefside during giant monster attack and was adopted by his aunt and uncle who lived in Angel Grove. To make matters worse, Alex really didn't have the time to grieve the death of his parents and things seemed to be happening so fast that it was almost as if his parents died yesterday to him. So combined with all of the baggage of being a new student without a single friend in this city, Alex really wasn't in the best of moods.
As Alex walked through the halls of his new high school, he was pretty much ignoring everything that was going on around him as he just wanted to get this day over with so that he could go home. He wasn't even going to keep the promise he made to his uncle about going to the chess club after school so that he could join it. Alex wasn't being serious at the time when he made that promise since he dwelling in his own thoughts at the time. He probably would have said no anyway since it was his uncle that was in charge of the chess club and there is a difference in the way someone acts in front of their parents and the way someone acts in front of their peers.
