Tommy has been practicing the martial arts for most of his life and he has the body to show for it. He is tall, but not overly so, and has the lean. muscular look of someone who is active. He thought about beefing up more, but decided eventually that what he had was good enough, and as long as he was in shape then it really did not matter what he looked like.

At the insistence of his wife, Tommy cut his trademark long hair when he graduate from college, and now favors a spiked look. He shaves consistently, so his face is usually smooth, save the occasional five o'clock shadow. Like the other rangers, his clothing color reflects his ranger color, so as a result, he is often mistaken for a goth with his black clothing.

Personality:

Tommy is a man of many faces. To those that he fights against, he is like a man possessed, fighting with everything that he has, his determined nature refusing to let him give up. On the battlefield, he is relentless and his strategic plans have very often meant the difference between victory and defeat for the rangers. He simply hates to lose and even more so, hates to see those who he cares about and fights with hurt as a result of a mistake that he made.

He very often blames things on himself, even though in most cases, it was nowhere near his fault. He has a huge guilt complex and it is this more than anything that is his biggest weakness. When angry, he often acts before he thinks, and the result of this is more guilt when he realizes how rashly he acted. This is of course, a vicious cycle.

Tommy is also very loyal and very loving. He is totally faithful to not only his wife, but to those who are his close friends. Once earned, his loyalty is unwavering and forever, unless something happens that makes him lose trust. Trust and honor are very important to him, and he takes both very seriously.

Tommy really has no idea who his birth parents are, which is something that really bothers him at times. However, he was lucky enough to be adopted, along with his sister Eliza by the Oliver family, a kind and loving couple. Some of his fondest early memories are of his father playing catch with him or his mother pushing him in a swing. The Oliver’s were the family that he needed, and supported him in every way that they could, which included karate, something that he picked up when he was six years old. He took to the sport like a natural, and obtained his black belt when he was twelve years old.

Due to his father’s job, the family had to move around quite a bit, and as a result, Tommy had trouble making friends. It wasn’t because he was not a friendly kid, but because he was never in one place for more than a few months. That all changed when his father finally got a job where he did not have to move as much, and when he was sixteen years old, Tommy finally settled in Angel Grove. His first week there, he entered a karate tournament and fought to a draw in the final match against a kid in red. This would turn out to be Jason Scott who would eventually turn into a lifelong friend, even though their relationship would be rocky at the start. It was through Jason that he met four other teens that would change his life forever. He met Kimberly Hart and the two started to date, but not before he did a stint as an evil ranger. Being a part of the rangers gave Tommy something to fight for, and he felt as though he had finally found his place in life.

Three years later, he left the rangers after having put on white and red colors and went to college where he eventually earned his Ph.D. in paleontology , but a side effect from a research trip created the evil known as Mesegog and Tommy once again had to be a ranger as he lead a team of new teens against this new evil. With the forming of the evil alliance, his work is really cut out for him, especially when he finds himself the leader of the mega ranger alliance. Through it all, he keeps the faith that one day he will hang up the ranger spandex for good, and lead the quite life of a high school science teacher, and spend quality time with Kim, who he had married six year previously.
