:: OUT-OF-CHARACTER RULES ::
- This is a moderate-advanced forum. We ask that you take the time to make sure everything is grammatically correct. We also ask that you keep your posts at 200+ words. We understand the occasional lapse, but don't make it a habit.
- Violence? Okay. Language? Okay. Romance? Okay. Just keep in mind that the site is rated PG-13. Don't get too violent or obscene. And if a topic gets steamy, fade to black, go off site, or move it to PMs.
- Our policy is one account per character. The only exception we'll even consider is if you're playing twins. Also, you're allowed up to six characters as long as you're keeping them active. 4 Canons is the current limit!
- Speaking of characters, please do not start with multiple characters at once. Space it out a bit. Of course there is no problem with having multiple characters, but we ask that when you first start out, please start with one, and then wait a bit before getting more. This is in case you are new to RPing and may need a little help.
- Be respectful to the staff, as well as other members. Disagreements and the like are bound to happen but lets try to resolve things reasonably.
- Also concerning respect, that goes for the c box as well. We ask that you do not spam it. Also please do not advertise another site. You can mention it once or twice, and if someone is interested, they will tell you and you can discuss it with them out of the box. Also, and this is a big pet peeve of mine (J), please do not beg for posts. It just makes people not want to post with you and is quite annoying. This includes saying "I'm bored" multiple times in a certain amount of time.
- The admins are all really really friendly, but please respect our time and do not beg for us to accept your post or post with you. There are five of us, so chances are good that at least one of us will be online at all times. Just be patient.
- We will not tolerate any god-modding or power-gaming or anything of the like. If you have permission to mod someone's character or your modding one of your own characters, that's one thing, but anything else is frowned upon.
- There is no double posting in the IC boards. The exception to this being things like journals and other character development threads.
- We have a semi-liquid time thing going on here. What this means is that you have a specific number of threads you are allowed per character at any given time. More about this will be covered elsewhere.
- When you join, make sure your display name is you character's name in the following format (all caps): 'FIRST NAME MIDDLE NAME LAST NAME'.
- The gender of an account must match the character the account belongs too. Not the person at the keyboard.
- Avatars are mandatory. If you don't have one, get one. Ask in the graphics board if you need to.
- Only Celebrity's are allowed as face claims for characters.
:: GRAPHICS ::
- Keep all graphics character related. This goes for Avatars, Signatures, Banners, everything.
- Like was stated elsewhere, Avatars are mandatory. They are to be 112.5 pixels wide by 225 pixels high. We'd like everyone to have them that size but anything between that and 100x100 is acceptable.
- Signature can be no more than 500 pixels wide and 350 pixels tall.
- Keep animation to a minimum. A little bit here and there is fine but keep in mind that not everyone has a fast connection.
- Keep it clean. This should really go without saying, but we don't want to take any chances.
- Don't use sprites.
:: POSTING ::
- Make your dialogue noticeable. Whether it's bolded or colored differently, make sure people are able to tell what is dialogue and what is not. Also, dialogue should be in double quotes (" ")
- Make Thoughts Noticeable: Whether italicized or colored differently, make sure people are able to tell what is thought and what is not. Also, thoughts should be in single quotes (' ').
- Be Consistent With Distinguishing. If you are using a certain group of colors for dialogue and thoughts, be consistent. You can change them, but don't switch them around every other post. It can make it hard to keep track of what is what.
- Make sure that you pick colors that aren't too difficult for others to read if you're going to use colors as a distiguisher.
- Concerning Threads with Multiple People. Keep to a posting order. It not only makes things easier to keep track of and write for, but it makes the thread easier to jump into. Here's a simple example of an order for you: Poster 1, Poster 2, Poster 1, Poster 2, Poster 1, Poster 3, Poster 2. And so on like that.
- Chatspeak is not allowed in IC posts, unless it's a text message or IM post.
- Don't center-align posts. It's a bit annoying to read sometimes.
- Post layouts are optional but encouraged. The Graphics Rules do apply here in regards to width but height is a good deal more subjective. Just don't go to far.
:: RP SLOTS ::
- Like stated above, you have a certain number of thread slots.. These don't include any OOC threads.
- Four slots are for Free, Open, and Private RPs.
- Two slots are for Battles and Detention threads.
- And you get two extra slots for Plot Events and Site Events.
- Thread trackers are there for a reason. They make slots a lot easier to keep track of.
:: THREAD TAGS ::
- Tags are not an optional thing. They let others know what kind of thread it is and whether or not they can just hop in.
- [FREE], [OPEN] These are your typical RPs, held in any IC board. The basic thread type, anyone can join them.
- [PRIVATE] In order to join this type of thread, you must have received an invite. There's no law saying you can't join a Private thread, but doing so isn't very good etiquette.
- [NAME, NAME, NAME] The same as a Private thread but instead of invites being sent out the participants names are in the title.
- [DETENTION] As the tag suggests, you'll use this for any detention threads. They're much like private threads and your character doesn't need to have been given detention by a teacher.
- [SITE EVENT] Only the staff will be using this tag but if you see it, it means that the staff have finally put up some kind of fun event for any- and everyone to take part in.
- [PLOT EVENT] Much like Site Events, this tag will only be used by the staff as well. These are events that tie in to the sites plot somehow.
- [BATTLE] This tag denotes a battle of some kind. Usually, staff are the only ones that will post with this tag, telling about the monster that's attacking and the like. You are allowed to use the tag for battles amongst yourselves or against the various minions.
- Modding something like a detention, battle, etc. does not count towards your RP slots.
- Single Post Topics count as Free RPs. These are basically character development threads.
- Solo RPs are, like Single Post Topics, usually character development threads. This is the only time you can post more that just once without others needing to reply first.
