She was used the pain. Both the physical and emotional, so this was not new. The kind of stuff that she had gone through over the past year had pretty much hardened her to the worse of it. It was not like she had learned to cope, just the opposite. She had instead learned to bottle up her emotions. She did not know how to deal with them and it was best, in her mind, not to bother other people with them, and that included her own family.
Family. She honestly did not even know what that word meant anymore. She thought she had had a loving family for most of her life, but of course, that all changed with her father's, and to a lesser extent, her mother's actions. She had suffered tremendously at their hands and through them had learned not to trust anyone that said they loved her. Tommy and Kim had graciously taken her and her sister into their home and while she was very grateful for that, she still could not bring herself to trust them. She still cringed when Tommy got near her, and eventually he stopped trying, content to try and help from a distance.
Then there was Kelsey, perhaps the only one that really did know what she was going through. She had suffered as well at the hands of their father, though not as much as Chelsea herself. Still, she could relate and really was the only one that she could count on.
Or so she thought.
Chelsea had just gotten out of the hospital. She had spent two weeks there healing from self inflicted wounds, and while she did not expect much, she at least expected a visit from her sister. At first, she had told herself that Kelsey was just busy, that surely she would come. But as the days passed and there was still no visit, she had started to cry and when more days passed, she had stopped the tears and again bottled up her pain.
But now that she was home, she would deal with this. She told herself that she did not need them, but she really did want answers. She made her way to the room that she shared with her, knowing she was in there. There would be a confrontation and she wanted to get it over with. Without bothering to knock, she walked right in.
"Oh, your here. Glad to see you find yourself with some free time. Unlike last week when your fucking SISTER was laying in a hospital bed!"

She had left the room a mess the past few weeks her eyes sad as she lay in bed at night. Over the past few weeks she had been tortured by the scene that she had come home to when Tommy had called and told her that her sister had tried to kill herself. She had done everything she could to argue her way in but in the end she had always gotten the same answer that she was to young so instead she had been spending most of the time at the hospital in the waiting room or at home when being close but not being able to see her sister had been draining enough but she had not slept well the past few days.
Kimberly was brining Chelsea home today and she had spent most of her day in bed unable to sleep the night before she was going over twenty four hours when the car pulled up and she yawned and got up. Covering something she had been working on she listened to the sounds and knew her sister would be coming soon. She had barely just managed to cover the items when the door opened and her sister came in upset that she had not visited about half way through she rushed to her and wrapped her arms around Chelsea and started to cry hard against her shoulder the emotions exploding out all at once.
they…wouldn’t let me in I was to young all I could do was sit in the waiting room she said quietly her voice sad as she hugged her tightly. One thing shown now how much she missed her sister and the tears had not stopped as she looked into her sisters eyes she sighed quietly the exhaustion had shown in her own eyes…countless nights of little or no sleep she had been coming as she closed her eyes and sighed sadly her head burying against her sisters shoulder I’m so sorry she whispered as she just sobbed against her sisters shoulder.

How could she had been so stupid? How could she have even thought for a moment that her sister, the one person on the planet who truly understood what she had gone through, that she would not care enough about her to visit her in the hospital? As Kelsey wrapped herself tightly around her, her tears flowing freely, soaking her tank top, Chelsea could not help but feel like the world's biggest bitch. And that was not helping her current emotional state.
What had she been thinking? Of course they would not let her in due to her age. She should have thought of that in the first place, but here she had gone off half cocked and had made a mess of things...again. She had simply not been thinking straight and had said the first thing that came to her mind. Her mind speaking before her heart, again, not all that unusual for her.
She stood there in silence for a few minutes, holding her sobbing little sister as he apologized for something she did not need to be apologizing for. Chelsea was at a lose for words. How could she make this better? COULD she make it better? She was not sure of either question, but she had to make some kind of attempt. Soon, she gently disentangled Kelsey from her and held her at arms length. "I am SO sorry Kels. Of course you would have come, I know that now, I always knew it, I was just.....just in a bad place, and I just went off without thinking. I know it does not mean much, but...but can you forgive me?" It was lame at best, she knew, but it was the best that she could do for now. She just had to hope that it was enough.

The two sisters stood there together at that moment everything seemed to be okay and it was back when everything was better. before life had turned them all upside down and closed her eyes and sat down on the bed feeling comfortable as she sat there and paused no need to be sorry…you had every reason to be upset with me she said after a few moments as she bit her lip and looked up at her sister and sighed quietly she had been troubled herself over the past few weeks. She had wondered if she could have done anything to have helped her sister but in the end…she had not been there when her sister had needed her.
Pausing as she touched something covered she paused I made you something she said after a few moments and gave it to her as she paused. It was a painting that she had done even though she had never been one that would have tried it in the past but she had enjoyed doing it as it kept her mind off things. The painting was something simple a painting of her sister in her ranger uniform with the helmet tucked under her arm. Under the pictures were four simple words…my sister my hero.
Resting her hands inside her pockets she bowed her head and paused you have always been there when I needed you… we have others but it made…our bond stronger and that is something that will never break she smiled at her and looked into her eyes. Even now though they were living with Tommy and Kimberly the two were great but in the end no one completely understood what had happened besides the two sisters and that in the end was what made them so close
I love you she said simply and smiled at her sister.

Through everything that happened. Through the abuse and the pain and all of the hardships, Kelsey had always been there for her. How could she have ever thought that she would leave her like that? She vowed right then and there to spend the rest of her life if needed to make it up to her. While it was true that they were both in a better situation now with Tommy and Kim, the pain and the scars still ran deep with both of them, and Chelsea knew that whatever happened, that they would work through it together, but of course with help from people like Tommy and Kim.
When Kelsey showed the painting that she had just completed, she was truly moved, tears quickly coming to her eyes. She had known of course that Kelsey was a talented artist, but this...this was almost unbelievable. Not only had she perfectly captured her, but she had done it in such a way that showed just how much she loved her sister. It was a beautiful depiction and Chelsea knew that she would treasure it for the rest of her life. She vowed to herself that it would always have a place of honor in whatever home she lived in.
She embraced Kelsey tightly, the tears flowing freely now. "I love you too sis. So much. I love this, and I promise that I will take care of it."
